Nick Lomeli, a 68 year resident of San Pedro CA, passed away on Wednesday December 16th after a short but courageous battle with Covid-19. Nick was a graduate of San Pedro High School class of S'70. He later enlisted in the Army Reserves from 1971-1977 where he trained as an Army Combat Medic. He was also a Longshoreman and proud member of ILWU Local 13 for 32 years where he went on to become a crane instructor, he later retired from Local 13 in 2014. He was a 35 year life long member to the Elk's Lodge #966 San Pedro California. Nick had a passion for collecting and restoring Volkswagens, he enjoyed working on them and spending time with his two sons Nick Jr and Jeff Lomeli, the three of them had a very special bond. Nick was a devoted son, father, brother who loved his family dearly, he had a special friendship with his ex-wife Georgine (Gilbert) Williams. He is preceded in death by his mother Emma Almeida Lomeli, his father Bennie Lomeli and his nephew Bengie Enstedt. He is survived by his two sons Nick Lomeli Jr (Amanda) Jeff Lomeli (Stephanie) their mother Georgine Arriola Williams (Gilbert), his sister Monica Enstedt (Charlie), niece Kelly Leal (Lenny), his two closest friends Jack Mendez (Kelly) and Ralph DeMartino along with many great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
The family would like give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the ICU department of Providence Little Company of Mary Torrance for their exceptional care they provided, with a extra special thank you to the nurse who made sure Nick was not alone and held his hand during his final moments.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
