Winnie- Bill and I were flying out of the country when we came across the obituary for Gary in the AJC. So sorry to hear of your loss. Always enjoyed talking with Gary- catching up with how Andrew and Katie were doing. He was a kind gentle person and great listener.

I first met Gary when he recruited law students for the OCC from UNC School of Law where I teach Banking Law. From 2004-2012, Gary served on the Board of Advisors for our Center for Banking and Finance until he passed this along to his colleague, Mike Waters. He faithfully attended our annual Banking Institute and contributed in so many ways to our activities.
Gary was a true gentleman who always had a positive outlook. I will miss his steadfast support and encouragement.

Gary was both a colleague and a friend to me, always kind and gentle. I will miss him.

Gary was a great roommate for two years at UVa law school. Being able to invite a Sweet Briar girl for Sunday Brunch at the President's house was a definite plus. In addition, Gary was a steadfast Republican. We will all miss him!

Our prayers and condolences go to Gary's family. He was one of the most beloved managers in the OCC. Gary was always very kind and supportive to me throughout my OCC career. He will be missed.

Susan and I are thinking of you. Gary was a special friend and supporter, well-loved by all. It was an honor to know and work with him over the last 42 years.

Winnie, I served as Regional Administrator of National Banks in Atlanta in 1974&1975. Gary was a source of strength to me during this year. I will always remember his good humor and wise advice. He was true friend.

Gary was a friend and congenial classmate at U VA Law School. Condolences to the family.

Gary and I were close in first year law. He was "Pa" I was "Pl". Without a doubt one of the good guys. He will be missed.

I was so sad to learn of Gary's passing. The world lost a truly kind, caring, thoughtful human being who always had a smile, a word of encouragement and enthusiasm for all he knew. My 10 yr. old son Max shared a sweet friendship with Gary, and we are so sorry we did not get to visit with him once more. We always think there's more time. Sending love and hugs.
