Matilda (Montecalvo) Poland, age 95, formerly of Cranston, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Kent Regency Center in Warwick. She was the wife of the late Walter Poland.
Born in the Peace Dale section of South Kingstown, a daughter of the late Annibale and Marie (Marmaro) Montecalvo, she lived in Cranston for most of her life. Her surviving friends would like to express their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at Kent Regency who treated her like family and loved her until the end.
Matilda was the mother of the late Mary Poland, and the sister of the late Antonio Montecalvo, Esther Holland, Ida Papa, Gilda Beaurejean, and Olga Diane. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and a longtime surrogate daughter, Jennifer Coates.
