Memorial for Anna T. Needham

Departed on Dec. 1, 2020 and resided in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Anna T. (Hughes) Needham, age 91, of Warwick, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Alfred A. Needham, Jr., and later the companion of the late Gregg Ward.

Born in Warwick, a daughter of the late John J. and Margaret A. (McCarthy) Hughes, she was a life-long Warwick resident.

Anna was a loving mother who adored all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was incredibly proud of her family. Memories of weekly dinners prepared for a family of 6 children was the thread to a close family. She loved her home in Gaspee Point, tending to her gardens and lawn this past summer.

She cherished her job in later years as a school bus monitor for the City of Warwick. Anna loved seeing the kids every day and talking with the parents. She worked as a monitor until the age of 89 and 10 months. She loved the interaction, and in the summer months would always say she was anxious to return to work.

Anna was a strong and proud woman who never asked for much. Always a kind word and a lot of love to go around. She will be incredibly missed by her family and friends.

Anna was the mother of Margaret “Peggy” Harrington of Warwick, Mary-Ellen Rapone of Warwick, Alfred Allan Needham, III (Lori) of Cranston, Matthew Needham (Jennifer) of Centerville, MA, Marc A. Needham of Warwick, and the late Kevin Needham; the grandmother of Ryan Needham, Rhonda Rapone-Morrissey, Michael Rapone, Christopher A. Needham, Courtney L. Krupa, Kevin Harrington, Andrew Harrington, Emma Rose Needham, Jack Needham, Sam Needham, Shane Needham, and Christianna Needham; and the great-grandmother of Maddison Needham, Bryce Needham, Nolan Needham, Sawyer Needham, and Dean Turbitt.

She was the sister of Thomas J. Hughes and Rose E. Dwyer of Warwick, and the late John J. Hughes, Richard T. Hughes, Sr., William F. Hughes, Dennis E. Hughes, Michael “Joe” Hughes, Margaret M. Allen, Mary C. Dorrwachter, and Ellen E. Goff.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, her funeral and burial will be private.
