Henry C. James (Uncle Jim), born January 15, 1938 to Eldon and Thelma James. He was the youngest of five boys, so it did not take long to learn how to move fast and to stay out of the way. Henry enjoyed all sports; baseball, football and trail running. He could move fast when the other four boys were after him. In 1954 Henry met Eula Mae Briscoe. They were married in October 1954. In September of 1955 their daughter Thelma Faye James was born. In January of 1955 Henry went into the US Navy. There were no jobs to be had at the time. In January 1958 he and Eula Mae were divorced so he stayed in the Navy. He stayed in the Navy until October 31, 1968. Henry is a Vietnam Veteran.
Henry met Edith Delight (Gray) Winters on December 31, 1967. That is when the whirlwind of their life came together. They were happily married for 47 years and it was a grand and happy married life. In April, 2014 Edie went to visit her family in heaven. She was the last of 14 children to complete the Gray circle in heaven.
Henry (Uncle Jim) worked for Air Drilling Service for 23 years and it was mostly international work. He was a Senior Supervisor of the Far East but traveled the world for the company.
On January 15, 1977 Karen and Dan Shaver presented Henry with Brandon Shaver, his grandson, for his birthday present, saying he had to leave him there and could not take his present home. Then on January 15, 2013 Brandon and Niquie Shaver presented Henry with Miss Elena Renee Shaver, his granddaughter, on his 75th birthday, and you know, they wouldn’t let him take her home either. (This is very one-sided guys.) Henry had a long full life. He had his ups and downs but in the long run a happy life.
Words of Wisdom from Henry: Don’t forget to pass along a smile to people, they will smile back or say what’s that fool smiling for. Always think positive, if it’s meant to be it will be. Now turn to your loved ones and tell them that you love them. I am so proud to say that you are my family and my friends, a person could not ask for more. Enjoy life and I will be watching you from above while Edie and I are doing the Waltz around heaven.
