Memorial for Reba Ellene Helgeson

Born in Ponce de Leon, MO on May 18, 1932
Departed on Jul. 7, 2018 and resided in Richland, WA.

Reba Helgeson, 86, was born in Stone County, Missouri on May 18th, 1932 and passed away at home in Richland, Washington on July 7th, 2018. She grew up as an only child on a small farm in Missouri and married Roy Stewart in 1951. While Roy was stationed in Germany with the Army, Reba moved to Richland to take advantage of the job opportunities at the Hanford Site. Son, Rory, and daughter, Debbie, were born while married to Roy Stewart. She was married to her second husband, William (Bill) Helgeson, for 52 years.

Reba enjoyed working as an executive secretary at the Washington Public Power Supply System, and cherished her many friendships made at work and throughout her life. She was a supportive parent and grandmother who loved spending time with a good book or relaxing with friends, grandkids, and neighbors at the cabin that she and Bill built in Oregon. A dog or cat who found its way to her door was fortunate. She made others feel loved by giving them special gifts and trying to help make their lives easier. She was well loved. Even as poor health took a toll on her independence in her later years, she still looked back on her life with gratitude for God's blessings on her life.

Reba was preceded in death by Roy Stewart; stepdaughter Jean Helgeson; and son Rory Stewart. She is survived by husband William Helgeson; daughter Debra (Tim) Clossey; stepson Jack Helgeson; daughter-in-law Jennifer Stewart; grandchildren, Kaitlin Clossey, Patrick (Sandra) Clossey, Jordan and Kyle Stewart, Stephanie (Scott) Sunday, Mellisa (Brett) Sower, and James (Charlie) Nutt; extended family in Missouri; and many great grandchildren.

At Reba's request, there will be no memorial service. The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Home Health Care Solutions and The Chaplaincy for their kind care that allowed her to fulfill her wish to live out her final days at home.
