ALEXANDRIA, IN- Robert E. "Bob" Welborn, 90, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Community Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.

He was born on December 25, 1927 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Fred and Emma (Helton) Welborn. Bob grew up in Orestes and has lived in the Alexandria area most of his lifetime. He was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1945. Bob then enlisted in the United States Navy as an electrician and was honorably discharged in 1949. He furthered his career by taking training in electronics in Chicago. Bob owned and operated Welborn's TV Sales and Service for 41 years. During that time and following his retirement, Bob still never missed a day of work. He was a member of Alexandria Eagles #1771, Alexandria Elks #478, Anderson Moose #150 and the Alexandria American Legion-Post 87. He has been a member of the Orestes Christian Church for most of his lifetime. Bob enjoyed fishing, traveling and time spent at his summer lake home.

2 Sons-Fred (Sandy) Welborn-Elwood, Jeff Welborn-Orestes
3 Grandchildren- Jason Welborn, Kristen Daily and Christopher Welborn
3 Step-Grandchildren-Brandy Clark, Brooke Street and Bridgett Fields
14 Great-Grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his father in 1947, his mother in 2008, his beloved Mary Ann in 2016 after 65 years of marriage, 2 brothers-Loren Welborn and John Welborn, a sister Wanda Hall

Services honoring Bob's life and legacy will take place at 10 am on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria with Rev. Courtley Granger officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Park View Cemetery, Alexandria. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home on Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Richland Township Fire Department through the funeral home.
