ALEXANDRIA, IN - Jimmy Dois Garner, 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Community Hospital in Anderson after a sudden illness.

He was born on April 9, 1938 in Caddo Gap, Arkansas to Roy and Bessie (Huggins) Garner and has lived in Alexandria the past 52 years. Jimmy was a graduate of Alexandria High School -Class of 1956 where he was named Valedictorian. He was a member of Alexandria Eagles Lodge-#1771. He retired from Delco-Remy in 1991 after 33 years of employment. Jimmy has been an avid bowler for more than 40 years and bowled that perfect “300” game in 1972. He also enjoyed golfing.

Great-Grandchildren-Oliver Garner-Hahn, Silas Ballard and Maren Ballard
Brother-Ray (Pam) Garner-Alexandria
Brother-in-law-Jerry Davis in Tennessee
Several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, In-laws-William and Bertha Mae Cleaver, Brother-Cecil Garner, Sister-Lena Davis, Brothers-in-law-Robert Cleaver, John Record, Sherman Hurst, Sisters-in-law-Betty Record, Gloria Cleaver and Mary Lou Hurst

A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Alexandria Community Center, 315 South Harrison Street. Private inurnment of cremains will take place in the Serenity Columbarium Garden at Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The First Tee of Indiana at www.thefirstteeindiana.org or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org with envelopes also available at the Celebration Gathering.
