Bettie Sue (Queener) Wandel passed away July 3, 2017, at Rae Ann Nursing in Westlake, OH, under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice, with daughter Ellen and granddaughter Stacey at her side. She suffered a stroke in June of 2002 that affected the remainder of her life.
Bettie was born November 26, 1924 in Lenior City, TN to William Prior and Johnnie Lee (Giles) Queener.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, David "Rick", who was killed in a car accident in 1963, sister Frances Taffin and brother Charles Taffin.
Bettie married Donald Glenn Wandel on July 14, 1945 and they celebrated 68 years together. Don passed away at age 90 on November 17, 2013.

Great-Granddaughters, Rachel, 20, Kathryn, 17, and Lauren, 15 of Westlake, OH
Bettie spent her life being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all those who were part of her life. She was a neighbor to all who needed her whether it was a meal, a pie, a trip to the doctor, Amish birthing's…she extended her hand and life to help. She worked alongside Don on the dairy farm they owned in Sullivan. She painted their farmhouse and barn many times, wall-papered and improved everything she touched. She enjoyed her flower beds, vegetable gardens and was a member of the Sullivan Garden Club. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed landscape painting. Bettie was a member of the Homerville Grace brethren Church most of her life.
Funeral service will be Friday, July 7, at 11 AM at Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi (330-948-1122).
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service Friday.
Rev. Brad Kelley (friend of Don and Bettie and former Pastor at Grace Brethren Church, Homerville) will officiate.
Bettie will be laid to rest next to Don immediately following the service at Sullivan Southview Cemetery.
