In the midst of fall, October 19, 1941 in Lockhart, Texas, Arnold Otto French was born the third child to Fannie and Gomillion French.
Arnold Otto French, affectionately known as "Otto" by his friends and family professed his love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at an early age.
During the early years of his life Otto spent several years residing in Fort Worth and Austin areas. Otto was educated in the Austin Independent School District graduating from L. C. Anderson High School in 1961. In high school, he was a member of the baseball team. Otto possessed a great zest for life and education was important to him. Two of Otto's major educational accomplishments was earning an Associate Degree, and completing barber college. Professionally, Otto worked for A.I.S.D. and North Phillips Copus.
January 16, 1969, Otto married the love of his life, Henrease Taylor French. to the union of Otto and Henrease, the apple of his eye, his son Arnold French III was born.
In part the happiest days of Otto's life were spent among friends and family in East Austin. Otto enjoyed gardening, farming in Luling, and raising chickens in the backyard. Otto's daily entertainment was challenging friends in a game of dominoes. The frequent conversations he engaged in would more than likely be sparked by the headlines from the Austin American Statesman, the newspaper which he looked forward to reading. Everyone knew Otto's routine, and could expect to see his bright smile leading him around the corner at the appointed time of his personal schedule. Otto also enjoyed discussing politics and was a huge advocate of President Obama. He made sure to vote for him during each presidential election.
Otto was tragically called home to be with the Lord when struck by a car on Sunday, June 11th around 9:20 PM, and sadly, two days later he passed away from his injuries.
Otto leaves his son Arnold, Minister LaTresse A. Cartwright, Yvette Compton, grandchildren Bryce Frency, Amaya French, Shayla French, and Dominique French; his three sisters Patra Byars, Olavie Hall and Annie Brown to cherish his memory. Otto was preceded in death by his brother Joyce French, his parents Gomillion French and Fannie Bowzer, and daughter Tonya Delisa French. Otto will be terribly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends that he visited with every day on his walks.
