Bernice Frederick Gendron

Bernice (Frederick) Gendron, 97, wife of the late Lawrence Gendron, both originally of Meriden, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 11, 2017. Born on August 31, 1919 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Maria (Caffrey) Frederick.

Bernice is survived by her son, Dr. Gary Gendron (Florida), daughters, Lauren Brazicki (Old Saybrook) and Michelle Kane (Madison), and was predeceased by daughter, Denise Gendron. She also leaves behind six precious grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by her brothers, Edward and Burton, and two sisters, Helen and Arlene.

Bernice proudly served in the Marine Corps during WWII and enjoyed being a Mom of four and homemaker to her husband. She resided at The Hearth at Tuxis Pond in Madison for fourteen years.

Bernice was not only sweet and gentle but possessed a great sense of humor. She lit up a room with her beautiful, infectious smile and spoke loving, generous words of encouragement wherever she went.

A graveside service (honoring both Bernice and Lawrence) will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 10am at the State of Connecticut Veteran's Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown where military honors will be accorded for both Bernice and Lawrence. In light of the fact that some of Lawrence's unique WWII military items are stored/displayed at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, VA, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to: The Marine Heritage Foundation @
