Carl Howard Briley, 60, of Lapeer, raised in Hillman, died Sunday June 18, 2017 after a brief diagnosis. He was born May 18, 1957 in Alpena to parents Cleo and Emma (Dice) Briley.
Carl was a graduate of Hillman High School, Class of 1975. He married the love of his life, Janet "Jan" Marcotte on October 22, 1982 in Rochester. Mr. Briley worked for Hamlin Tool, Inc., in Rochester, for 41 years, in all aspects of operations. He was a huge Lions and Tigers fan for many years. Carl played suburban softball and enjoyed working in his yard. He was known for grilling, havin' a beer, sitting around a campfire with friends and laughter. Carl was one of ten siblings; he loved his life, his family and friends.
Mr. Briley is survived by his wife of 34 years: Janet "Jan" Briley, son: Shawn Briley, siblings: Roger (Judy) Briley; Mary (Roger) Marquard; Kathy Smith; Larry Briley; Regina Hottis; Greg (Sonja) Briley; Florence (Larry) White and Allen Briley, as well as a "nearly brother": Pat Pihajlic. He was preceded in death by his brother: Christopher and his parents.
Carl's visitation will be 4-8pm Wednesday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. His funeral will be 11:00am Thursday June 22, 2017 at Muirs, officiated by Fr. Rev. Michael Gawlowski. Burial will follow in Green Corners Cemetery, Hadley.
