Mrs. Pearlean Dorothy Jones was born on October 26, 1925 in Roselle, New Jersey, daughter of the late Scobie Simms and Trudy Nichols Simms. She attended the Roselle Public School system and graduated from Abraham Clark High School. Mrs. Jones was a graduate of the Essie Mae Beauty School in Elizabeth. She lived in Roselle most of her life but in 2003 she relocated to Linden to live with her daughter, Brenda Jones.
Mrs. Jones was employed as an Assembler at Simmons Mattress Company in Elizabeth, New Jersey for 28 years until her retirement in 1987. She was also a Beautician in Elizabeth for many years.
She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Roselle for over 75 years. She was a Sunday school Teacher, member of the Emergency Choir, and President of the Senior Missionary Board for 20 years. She was one of the founding members of the Noon Day Prayer with Deaconess Bennie Lee Newkirk where she began "The Pearlean Jones Ministry" which visits the Shut-in once a month, and was recently named "Mother of the Church."
On Monday, June 12, 2017, Pearlean Dorothy Jones passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway.
Pearlean Dorothy Jones was predeceased by her husband, George Jones; two sons: Jeffery Jones and Gregory Jones; two brothers: Isaiah Charles Gilbert and Clyde Simms; and sister, Betty Elizabeth Adams.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, her devoted daughter, Ms. Brenda P. Jones of Linden, New Jersey; one granddaughter, Karen Chase; great-granddaughter, Adia Ledbetter; also surviving are a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
