Albert "Bert" Graham Lee, Jr., 72, of Rumford, RI, passed away on December 24, 2016. Born in New York City on March 20, 1944, he was the son of the late Albert G. Lee, Sr. and Marie (Stewart) Lee.

Bert grew up in Newington and West Hartford and graduated cum laude from the Loomis School in Windsor, Connecticut in 1962. At Princeton University, he majored in Economics, graduating in 1966. Over the years, Bert kept in touch with many college and prep school friends.

After graduating in 1968 from the Wharton School of Business (University of Pennsylvania) with a Master's degree, he volunteered for military service, graduating from Navy Officer Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island. Bert served on the U. S. S. Independence during the Vietnam War.

Between 1970 and the early 1980s, Bert pursued a career in international finance, working for, among other corporations, Standard Oil/Esso (now Exxon/Mobil), Singer Sewing Machine and Monsanto. In his second career, he was an executive recruiter for corporations seeking high-level financial and biotechnology personnel.

Bert loved singing and performing. He was a member of the glee clubs at both Loomis and Princeton; over the years, he was active in numerous musical groups, performing classical choral music, musical theater and more. He loved playing the piano, especially the "old standards" from the 1930s and '40s.

From 1982 until his death, he lived in Rumford, Rhode Island, where he worked to restore his 1850 house and its gardens. He had a special love for his red 1951 MG-TD, "Maggie."

In his retirement, Bert tutored students in English as a Second Language (ESOL) and was aLiteracy Volunteer. He also tutored in Math and English skills to students in two Providence Public High Schools.

He is survived by his sister, Judith Lee Moeckel, and her husband, Jeffrey Moeckel of Killingworth, Connecticut. He also leaves his first cousins, Lee and Don Chapman, and their wives Marybeth Chapman and Barbara Chapman, of Laguna Beach and La Habra, California, respectively, and their children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at Church of the Epiphany, 196 Main St. Durham, CT. Interment will follow in Mica Hill Cemetery in Durham, where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Literacy Volunteers, Doctors Without Borders, or a charity of one's choice.
