DAVIS, Lorraine Patton

Lorraine Patton (Pat) Davis, 98, passed away at Valerie Manor in Torrington, Connecticut on May 18, 2017. She was the widow of Theodore E. (Ted) Davis who died in February 2016. They were married for 78 years, spending their lives in Winsted, but traveled to visit with friends and family. Lorraine was the daughter of William H. Patton, and Hazel Lamoureaux Patton and was born in Waterbury, Conn. Upon the family relocating to Winsted, Lorraine entered the Gilbert School from which she graduated in 1936.

Following World War II, Lorraine worked in various positions at the Winsted Evening Citizen, as secretary of the Winsted Chamber of Commerce and later as an agent at the Tiffany Travel House. She was known for her outgoing and friendly manner, sense of humor and trademark" hair band." She had a wide circle of friends whom she treasured and many with whom she enjoyed golf at the Greenwoods Country Club. Lorraine was also active in community service spending many hours as a volunteer at the Winsted Memorial Hospital and Thrift Shop with her husband Ted. Lorraine was also a founding member of the Footlight Club which performed plays at the Central School auditorium. She and Ted enjoyed socializing at the Barkhamsted Senior Center in their later years.

She is survived by her sons Theodore E. Davis, Jr. and his wife Janice of San Antonio, Texas, and LtCol L. Hunter Davis, USMC (Ret) and wife Elizabeth of Alexandria, Virginia. In addition to her husband Ted, she was predeceasd by her grandson, Jed Davis. She leaves four grandchildren: Jason Davis (Alison) of Fulshear, Texas, Martha Davis (Christopher Reynolds) of Alexandria, Virginia, Sarah Hastings (Scott) of Haddonfield, New Jersey, and William Davis and his fiancee, Pamela Mooers of San Francisco, California as well as seven great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Valerie Manor for their compassionate care and support during the past year. Among her final words to the staff were; "you all take such good care of me…"

A memorial service and burial will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 2:00pm at St. John's Episcopal Church in Pine Meadow, Connecticut. The Rev. Sandra Cossman will officiate. Montano-Shea Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
