Marquis "Terry" C. (Chapman) Haynes, age 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died peacefully at Geer Nursing Center on Monday, May 8, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Paul L. Haynes, Jr., for 61 years. Born October 23, 1934 in Fort Fairfield, Maine; the daughter of Loomis Carl and Kathryn (Paradis) Chapman.
Terry graduated from Caribou High School in Maine and Becker Jr. College in Worcester, MA. She worked as a Dental Assistant in Maine and in Hartford. She served as Registrar of Voters in Barkhamsted for 3 years and Treasurer of the Barkhamsted Fire District for 2 years. She worked at Ski Sundown for 8 years and managed the kitchen for 6 of those years.
While her children were growing up, she always held jobs that allowed her to be home for them. Later, she held office positions at Homer D. Bronson and The Wheeler Group for several years. Terry also worked at the Pleasant Valley Drive-In with her daughter Donna for 20 years. She loved adventures with her family, the beach, books and bingo.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind three daughters, Debra (George) Brydon, Donna (Timothy) McGrane and Kathryn (Michael) Lovetere; a son, Peter (Shannon) Haynes; 9 grandchildren, Christopher and Katie Parrott, Timothy, Jessica and Shannon McGrane, Maria and Matthew Lovetere, and Peter and Sam Haynes; and a great granddaughter, Paityn McGrane. She was predeceased by a son, Paul L. Haynes, III.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church in New Hartford at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Pleasant Valley. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Rd., New Hartford has care of the arrangements.
