Arregis Martin "Regis" was born on February 20, 1945 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, son of Len Martin, Sr. and Lucille Martin. Regis, as he was known by most, graduated from Linden High School, class of 1963. He lived in Staunton, Virginia before he relocated to Elizabeth, New Jersey and later to Linden where he remained for over 50 years.
Arregis spent four years in the United States Navy where he was a Radioman, Communications and Electronics expert. He received The National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star and was honorably discharged in 1969.
After his service for the country, Arregis came home and worked for Ford Motor Company in Edison, New Jersey as a Utility Worker. He moved to Staunton, Virginia where he worked at Western State Hospital for 18 years as a Chauffeur before returning to his home state of New Jersey. Regis always loved having a side hustle. He did a little bit of everything including roofing, plumbing, carpentry, auto repair and lawn and garden maintenance.
He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather and was always known for helping people. He loved fishing, hunting, training and raising dogs. His one true love was music.
On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, Arregis Martin departed this life at the VA Hospital in Orange.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Len Martin, Sr. and Lucille Martin.
Arregis leaves to behind to celebrate his life, his two sons: Raymond Jackson (Shelly) of Reston, Virginia and Reginald Jackson (Crystal) of Staunton, Virginia; adopted son, Paolo Flippen of Staunton, Virginia; two brothers: Len Martin, Jr. (Peggy) of Roselle, New Jersey, and Earnest Martin (Barbara) of Roselle, New Jersey; four sisters: Christine Nelson of Florence, New Jersey, Deborah Martin of Florence, New Jersey, Rosalyn Martin of Charlottesville, Virginia and Robyn Martin of Iselin, New Jersey; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; dear and devoted friends: Rita "Ann" Jiggetts, Mary Thompson and Monica Smith; and a host of nephews, nieces, and dear relatives and friends.
