FARRELL – Michael T. "Shorty" Farrell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2017 with his loving family and friends by his side. Born December 22, 1961 in Stoneham, MA; the devoted son of Isabell "Issy" (Dormer) Balfour and the late William J. Balfour, Sr.
Michael owned and operated Michael T. Farrell Lawn Maintenance for many years. Prior to owning his own business, he was a popular Bartender at Chatterley's in New Hartford. He enjoyed kayaking and fishing and would go every opening day with his cousin and dear friend, Eric Buell. Michael was an avid Red Sox and Patriot's fan. He was an extremely hard working, generous person with a giving heart that never once complained and he thought his greatest success was actually surprising his mother with her 80th birthday party.
In addition to his cherished mom, he is survived by: three step-brothers, Michael Balfour of CA, William Balfour Jr., of Torrington and Brian Balfour of NY; step sister, Marsha Morey of Canaan; two close aunts, Auntie Lou Jacobs and husband Edward of Enfield and Aunt Andra Carlisle of MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a step brother, Lee Balfour and also Michael's dog and faithful companion of 14 years, Raistlin.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Hartford Hospital, Conklin Bldg, for their wonderful care of Michael and the Palliative Care Team for making his final days as comfortable as possible.
