Joan Rausch Hentges
Marina, CA
Aug. 16, 1926 ~ March 28, 2017
Joan passed away on March 28, 2017 at the age of 90. Born on Aug. 16, 1926 in Jacobs Prarie, Minn, to William Rausch and Ermalinda Meinz Rausch; she was the third of ten children.
She graduated valedictorian from St. Boniface H.S. in Cold Spring, Minn. and attended the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn. She worked for Parsons in Los Angeles and then for many years as a secretary for the Carmel School District. Mom enjoyed being with her cherished needlepoint group, playing cards with her poker buddies, quilting, reading and doing word puzzles. She was a fantastic cook and wonderful hostess. She was especially the epitome of what a loving mother, wife, grandmother, mother-in-law, and daughter should be. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Presidio Sacred Heart Catholic community. Mom was strong in her faith and never uttered a mean word about anybody. She lived her life with love, compassion, dignity and without complaint.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Ronald Hentges and her brothers, Francis and Bill Jr. Rausch. She is survived by her children, David (Joni), Richard (Renee), Sharon Hentges Manjares (Martie) and Debra Hentges Stapleton and her grandsons, Stephen, John and Thomas Hentges and her granddaughter, Kaley Hentges Tackle. Her remaining siblings are Alvin, Donald, Lewis, Roger and David Rausch and Bernie Rausch Neuer and Phyllis Rausch Eccles. There are also many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends and will all miss her dearly.
There will be a Celebration of Life Mass on Saturday, April 29, 2017, 2017 at noon at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Carmel Valley. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to: Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict, 104 Chapel Lane, St. Joseph, Minn. 56374
