She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years Carmine Pedone; her devoted children Michael Pedone and his wife Andrea, Vincent Pedone and his wife Silvia and Donna Bannister and her husband Steve; her precious grandchildren Michael, Jack, Matthew, Vincent, Isabella, Santino and Sabrina; and her loving siblings Denice Tortorello, Priscilla Palumbo, Joseph Palumbo and Michele Palumbo Santos. She is also survived by her loving dog, Cocoa.

Jo Ellen was born in Newark, NJ and resided in North Arlington before moving to Kearny nine years ago. She was a waitress at the Rustic Mill Restaurant, Cranford for nine years.

She fought a courageous battle for three years with Leukemia, fighting with every fiber of her being before succumbing to complications of the disease. The consummate wife, mother, and grandmother, there was nothing she wouldn't do for her family while never expecting anything in return. The joy of being around her family, especially on holidays and special occasions was really the only payback she needed. Though her family lived a distance away, Jo Ellen always made it a point and found a way to actively participate in her children and grandchildren's lives. Blessed with a beautiful giving heart, she loved spoiling her grandbabies and even her dog Cocoa. Jo Ellen and her husband Carmine were a dynamic team together, complementing each other perfectly. Even while sick, she felt it was important to "pay it forward" by walking and raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.LLS.org).

Jo Ellen is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Doris (nee Sherman) Palumbo, her brother Frank Palumbo and her sister Dolores DiNuzzo.
