Beloved Mother, Sister, and Grandmother, 77

Mrs. Mary M. (nee Figliolina) Sochko, 77, of Nutley, NJ, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital, NYC. The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Saturday, March 18 at 8:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church , Nutley at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery , North Arlington. Visitation will be on Friday, March 17 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Sochko was raised in Lyndhurst, NJ, lived in NYC for 5 years, and resided in Nutley for the past 48 years. At the start of her career, she taught French and Spanish at Lyndhurst High School. After raising her children, she went to work as a secretary for Givaudan-Roure in Clifton, and later became a freelance French Translator. Mrs. Sochko was a 1957 graduate of Lyndhurst High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from New York University in 1961, and a Master of Arts degree in French from Hunter College. Mrs. Sochko was a member of the New York Circle of Translators Association.

She is survived by her beloved children Julie Kielb and her husband Stephen, John Sochko and his wife Salli, and Jennifer Sochko and her partner Colin; her loving sister Raffaela Blaer and her husband Allan; and also her cherished grandchildren Abigail, Ethan, Lila, Luke and Zachary. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sochko is predeceased by her husband Peter Sochko.
