Judith Ann Houdek, age 71 of Stanton, died Monday February 20, 2017 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE. She was born October 20, 1945 at Norfolk, Nebraska the daughter of Emil and Grace (Mellick) Swanson. She graduated in 1964 from Winside High School at Winside, after she attended Norfolk Junior College.

On August 6, 1966 Judy married Jacob Houdek at Winside Lutheran Church in Winside. The couple lived in Stanton and Judy was employed by Anderson Hardware in Stanton. She was a truck dispatcher for W & W Trucking in Norfolk until the couple moved out of state and she continued as a truck dispatcher in Arizona, Missouri and Minnesota. Judy was employed as manager of Stanton V.F.W. Post #3602 in Stanton. She moved to Omaha and was employed as a dietary aid for N.P.P.D. and Quality Living. In 2007 she returned to Stanton and worked as dietary aid for Stanton Health Center until she became ill in 2008 and retired. Judy was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton; Stanton V.F.W. Auxiliary where she served in several offices; her hobbies include watching baseball games, hunting and Nebraska football.

She is survived by her 3 children Jenny and Mike Hart of Clarkson; Jerry Houdek of Stanton; Jeanette and Scott Davidson of Stanton; 10 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; 3 Step Great Grandchildren; 1 Step Great Great Grandchild; 2 Brothers Mike and Kathi Swanson of Kansas City, MO; Dennis and Carol Swanson of Beemer, NE.
Preceding Judy in death are her parents, husband, 6 brothers, 1 sister.

Visitation: 4-7 P.M. Wednesday at Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Stanton.
