Glenda Elizabeth Miller Stahle was born February 5, 1937, in Black Mountain, NC, and passed away peacefully on February 10, 2017, surrounded by her husband and daughter. She will always be remembered as a kindhearted, talented and beautiful spirit by all her family, friends and church members.
She was the second of four children of Pansy Elizabeth Glenn Miller and Frederic Thomas Rhodes Miller. Glenda grew up in Black Mountain, North Carolina, alongside many friends and cousins. She served as a cheerleader and majorette at Black Mountain High School and later at Owen High School in Swannanoa, NC. During her teenage years, she worked at her father's grocery. After graduation, she worked at Biltmore Country Club in Asheville, NC while attending Blanton's Business College in Asheville, NC.
In 1957, she met Arno Wilhelm Stahle of Asheville, NC, a graduate of the University of Georgia. They were married on April 4, 1959. From there, the couple moved to Decatur, Georgia and worked for the public health department. Glenda went on to a long career with the 3M company in Atlanta.
Glenda and Arno were faithful members of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, and later at Peachtree Road Lutheran Church where they made many dear friends. Glenda contributed her beautiful sewing talents to the church through her beautiful tapestries and devoted service.
Her greatest legacy is her devotion to her beloved family and friends. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Kim and Lora, making a point to be an active part of all their school activities, ballet and musical events. She was a faithful and dear friend to many, always lending a kind word and warm hug. Her family and friends will always remember her elegance, kindness and joy.
Glenda is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Arno; her daughter, Lora Stahle Goff; grandchildren, Mckenzie, Will, Mary Margaret (Mandy) and Abigail; her brother Tom Rhodes and his wife Susan Stewart-Rhodes, sister Elena Diana Miller; brother-in-law Gabe Stahle and his wife Janie; nephews and nieces and cousins. Glenda was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim Anitra Stahle Renfroe in 2004 and her brother, Monte Miller in 1995.
Glenda's life will be celebrated with a visitation at Peachtree Road Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 18, from 6 to 8 pm and at her funeral on Sunday February 19th at 2:00 pm. The church is located at 3686 Peachtree Road, N.E. Atlanta, Georgia 30319 at the corner of Naramore Drive and Peachtree Road.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Peachtree Road Lutheran Church.
