James Harrison, 85 years old, of Monticello, Ga., died Sunday, February 12, 2017. Born on February 20, 1931, he was the second oldest of four children. James was the son of the late James T. Harrison Sr. and Katherine M. Harrison of Hartford, Ct. Survived by his loving wife Anna C. Harrison of 64 years and his four children Alva Harrison, James Harrison III (Holly), Michael Harrison (Patrice), and Anne Allen (John). James is also survived by his brother Chester Harrison (Connie) of Hartford, Ct. and preceded in death by his brother Charles Harrison (Esther) and sister, Alice Bell, both of Hartford, Ct., also seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
James and his siblings were raised in Hartford, Ct. by his grandparents Sadie and Oscar Mills after the passing of his mother "Kat." James retired from the trucking industry and was a lifetime member of Teamsters since 1958; he also worked at the Hartford Community Renewal Team (CRT). He held positions on the Jasper County Water Authority, Board of Electors and most recently a Bailiff. James was an avid collector of hats, salt & pepper shakers and tools.
James loved his wife and children and enjoyed socializing with friends at local businesses and will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in Covington, Ga., and officiated by The Reverend M. Edwin Beckham. The family requests donations be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Memorial Fund or the Regency Hospice in Macon, Georgia, in lieu of flowers.
