Melvin Dale Brunssen, age 85 of Randolph, died Sunday January 8, 2017 at Colonial Manor of Randolph. He was born on August 20, 1931 at Randolph, Nebraska the son of Herman and Alvena (Thaden) Brunssen. He attended Cedar County Dist #38 near Randolph and graduated from Randolph High School in 1949. After graduation Melvin farmed with his father northeast of Randolph until his father's death. He continued farming there his whole life.

On August 28, 1956 Melvin married Carol Ann Schleimer at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Danbury, Iowa. He is a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Carol Ann Brunssen of Randolph; 5 Children Steve and Sandi Brunssen of Henderson, NE; Warren and Debbie Brunssen of Randolph; Alan Brunssen of Randolph; Pam and Phillip Monahan of Wayne; Carmen and Rick Clyde of Omaha; 15 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; Son-In-Law Edward Bell of Des Moines, IA; 3 Siblings Alvin Brunssen of Lees Summit, MO; Lorraine Meyer of York, NE; Harold and Berdine Brunssen of Coleridge; 2 Sister-In-Laws Marlene and Roger Jessen of Danbury, IA; Joleen and Richard Miller of Omaha.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Ramona in 2008; 2 brother-in-laws Robert Schleimer and Paul Meyer; 1 sister-in-law Marjory Brunssen.
