Eldred Dwight Bloomquist, age 88 of Randolph, died Saturday December 17, 2016 at his home in Randolph. He was born September 7, 1928 at Wausa, Nebraska the son of Martin and Florilla (Ludden) Bloomquist. He attended Golden Rod Country School near Wausa and attended McLean Public School.

Eldred served in the Nebraska Army National Guard from June 23, 1948 until he was honorably discharged on June 13, 1951. He worked for Backhaus Trucking and Pierce County.

On June 28, 1950 Eldred married Armella Colling at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph, the couple made their home on the family farm. The couple raised seven children. In October 1995 the couple moved to Randolph. Eldred worked as a school bus driver for Randolph Public Schools from 1989 until retiring in 2008.

He was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph and the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving Eldred are his 6 children Valerie and Terry McKibbon of Norfolk; Tony and Deb Bloomquist of Norfolk; Margo and Mark Whitehead of Sioux City, IA; Mary & Dave Kalin of Norfolk; John and Ruth Bloomquist of Randolph; Mark and Rhonda Bloomquist of Randolph; 22 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother Neil and Margaret Bloomquist of Randolph; 1 Sister Janiece Wilbeck of Orange City, IA; 1 Sister-In-Law Jannelle and Glenn Gubbels of Sioux City, IA.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Armella in July 1997; 1 Daughter Jane in 1979; 1 Grandchild Emily in 2016; 3 Brothers, Arvid, Duane and Maurice; 3 Sisters-In-Law; 1 Brother-In-Law.

Visitation: 5 – 7:30 P.M. with 7:00 P.M. Christian Wake Service ALL Thursday at St. Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph; under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home – Randolph, NE
