Maria Silvestra (Chavez) Marroquin, affectionately known as "Bertha", went to be with her Lord and Loved Ones on December 5, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 26, 1931 in Banquete, Texas to Miguel and Manuela (Vasquez) Chavez. She was a long-time member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Richmond. This loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend will be missed.
In addition to her parents, Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Marroquin, Sr.; grandson, Nicholas Aguilar; siblings, Marta Chavez and Margarito Chavez; and step mother, Domitila Chavez.
Survivors include her children, Edwardo Marroquin and wife, Debra, Jimmy Marroquin and wife, Connie, Rene Marroquin and wife, Tiffany, Michael Marroquin and wife, Melissa, and Veronica Aguilar and husband, Carlos; grandchildren, Bonnie Marroquin, Alma Marroquin, Christopher Marroquin (Megan), Ericka Marroquin, Hillary Marroquin, Michael Marroquin, Miranda Aguilar, Mallary Marroquin, Ariana Aguilar, Laurie Aguilar, Carlos J. Aguilar and Clayton Marroquin; great grandchildren, Eriq Trevino and Natalia Grace Marroquin; siblings, Maria Gonzalez and husband, Tiburcio, Miguel Chavez, Arturo Chavez and wife, Marilinda, Sarah Arredondo, Jose Chavez and wife, Ophelia, Melli Serna and husband, Carlos, and Lety Chavez; along with numerous extended family and friends.
The Marroquin family would like to thank Joel Aguilar, Mary Margaret Zuniga, Noel Aguilar and Abel Aguilar for their love, care and support given to Bertha over the years.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2016 at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Richmond.
The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Richmond with the Very Reverend Manuel La Rosa-Lopez officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
