Thomas Joseph Navin, 72, passed away Sat.12/3/16 after a brief illness. Born in Watertown, Ct. He was the son of the late Judge Joseph Navin and Kathleen Broderick Navin and was also predeceased by his brother Michael Joseph Navin.


Tom attended Quinipeac College and graduated from Georgia State University in 1968. He worked in the insurance industry for over 40 years with Life Insurance Co. of GA and Jackson National, during which time he received many leadership and management awards. He was appointed by the GA governor to serve on the GA Cancer Advisory Council in the 1980's.


He was an active member of Riverdale First UMC, serving as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher and head usher. After moving to Sharpsburg he became a member of Cokes Chapel UMC.


He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann Dodenhoff Navin, his son and daughter-in law, Michael Joseph and Lilly Navin of Newnan, and grandson, Thomas Michael Navin. Tom is survived by his brothers and sister in-laws, Joan Navin, Johnnie Fulton (Al), John Dodenhoff (Karen), and, David Dodenhoff (Connie). He is also survived by nephews, Larry Navin, Christopher Navin, Will Fulton; and, predeceased by Luke Dodenhoff. His two nieces, Valerie Fulton and Jenna Dodenhoff, also survive him.

A memorial service celebrating Tom's life will be December 10, 2016 at 12:00, at Cokes Chapel UMC, The family will receive friends prior to the service at 11:00. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Newnan-Coweta Humane Society or Cokes Chapel UMC.
