Alice Kalkomey went peacefully to a new life on November 5, 2016 at the age of 94. She was born in Needville, on May 11, 1922. Baptized Eliszka (Elizabeth) Ludmila Horak, she was the third daughter of Louis and Lillie Horak. She attended Needville schools before graduating from Richmond High School. After marrying Fritz Kalkomey of Rosenberg, they made their permanent home in Needville. She retired from the City of Needville after working for 33 years and remained a loyal supporter of everything Needville, her entire life. Her first language was Czech and that Bohemian never lost her love for dancing. An active gardener, she enjoyed mowing even at 90.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, two older sisters, Adella and Judith Wenzel, and her brother, George Horak. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Kalkomey Linn of San Antonio, son, Richard Kalkomey of Needville and his wife Connie, grandchildren, Rebecca Linn Schaub and husband Mark, Cody Kalkomey and wife Shannon, Dusty Kalkomey and wife Melissa, Lauren Kalkomey Cook and husband Randy. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Charlie and Harrison Schaub, Branson Kalkomey, Lane Kalkomey, and Owen Cook, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the SPJST Home for their care; Sharon Weichart for keeping her home sparkling; and to her caregiver and loyal friend, Peggy Sebesta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the "Save the Water Tower" fund, P.O. Box 1008 in Needville, Texas 77461 or to St. Michaels Catholic Church, P.O. Box 95, Needville, Tx. 77461
