Walter E. Bryant, 89, of Plainville, husband of Shirley (Brandt) Bryant, passed away Sunday (Sept 11, 2016) at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor in New Britain. Born in Bristol, he was a former New Britain resident, moving to Plainville in 1957. A World War II U.S. Navy Veteran, serving aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Antietam, and was a vice president and manager of Connecticut Valley Paper & Envelope Company in Hartford, where he worked for 26 years, retiring in 1992. Walter was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville and the Plainville VFW Post.

Besides his wife Shirley, he leaves two sons, James Bryant of New Britain and Thomas Bryant and his wife Renee of Avon; two daughters, Lynn Bryant of New Britain and Caryn Turek and her husband Stan of Burlington; a brother, Charles Bryant Jr. of New Britain; seven grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Thursday 10 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin square, New Britain. Burial with military honors will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Wednesday 5 to 8 PM at Carlson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monsignor Bojnowski Manor, 50 Pulaski Street, New Britain, CT 06053.
