Called to his eternal reward, John Fred Adamson, passed away on Thursday (July 28, 2016). He died with his entire devoted family by his side at New Britain General Hospital, where he worked his entire life for over 45+ years, retiring in 1995 and died at the age of 83. John attended Vance School and Central Junior High in New Britain and graduated from Berlin High in 1950. He was the last remaining charter member of the Credit Union at NBGH which consisted of 25 members. He was also elected to be a Corporator of the hospital. He belonged to a bowling team at NBGH for many years. John was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Britain, where he met the love of his life, Lorraine Buchholz and they were married in 1952. He was raised by his mother, the late Marie (Henne) Adamson Choate.
John is survived by his devoted loving wife Lorraine of 64+ years and his devoted children, Richard John Adamson and his granddaughter Sarah Jessie Adamson of Plainville; his daughter, Nancy Lee Boucher, son-in-law Paul Robert Boucher of Plainville and his grandson Marc Adam Boucher of Keene, New Hampshire; and his son Scott William Adamson of Plainville, who will miss him dearly. John was involved with Drum Corps. International with all three children all playing in the Corps. Following Corps long after they no longer belonged. Weekends in Allentown, PA were a must in August and the 3rd Saturday in July was reserved for the Deep River Ancient Fife and Drum Bugle Corp Parade and tattoo in Deep River. John was an avid UConn girls and boys basketball teams fan as well as the NY Yankees and WNBA teams especially if a UConn member played and the Connecticut Sun basketball team.
We want to thank all the nurses, doctors and aides on CCU North for the wonderful caring care that they gave him, especially Michael Palmucci, who went that extra mile each and every day. I also want to thank my dearest friends, Richard DeMay and Joseph Kintschi who were always there for me. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services are Tuesday 11 AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch Street, New Britain, CT 06051. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 5 to 8 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
