Evelyn M. (Gingras) Anderson, 98, of Kensington, widow of John Anderson, passed away Tuesday evening (July 19, 2016) at Ledgecrest Health Care Center of Kensington. Born in New Britain, Evelyn was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1935 and lived in Kensington since 1950. She was a member of St. Paul's Church in Kensington; St. Paul's Ladies Guild; the Rosary Makers Group of St. Paul's; St. Agnes Guild; the New Britain Council of Catholic Women; and was a former member of the Kensington Art League.
Surviving is a son, John Anderson Jr. of Berlin; four daughters, Ellen Grochowski and her husband Paul of Middletown; Janice Jacobs and her husband Gary of East Berlin; Evelyn "Lynne" Anderson of Rockfall, CT; and Joanne Michalik and her husband Jim of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Lisa Jacobs; Jennifer Jacobs; Therese Grochowski; and Christopher Jacobs and his wife April; 1 great granddaughter Sophia Jacobs; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband John, Evelyn was predeceased by eight brothers and three sisters.
Her family would like to extend best wishes and many thanks to the staff at Ledgecrest Health Care Center for their attentive care of our loving mother. Funeral services are Monday 9 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM at St. Paul's Church, 479 Alling Street, Kensington, CT 06037. Burial will be in West Lane Cemetery, Kensington. Calling hours are Sunday evening 6 to 8 PM at Carlson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Church.
