Royce Davis, 71, of Irvington, N.J., passed away after a long illness on June 13, 2016, at home.
He was cremated on June 15, 2016.
Royce was born in Hereford, England, to the late Levi Davis, Jr. and Joyce (Nickson) Davis. He came to the United States in 1948 at the age of four and was educated in Newark, N.J. He was a specialized welder for Roben Manufacturing in Lakewood, N.J., until his retirement. Royce also played and coached touch football in the Essex County, Belleville, and Bloomfield Leagues since 1963, winning several awards and championships. Sports and family were his passions.
Royce was the beloved husband of Yvonne D. (Patterson) Davis; devoted father of daughters, Shannon Davis Vaught and Sarah K. Morgan (David), and son, Scott Michael Davis. He is also survived by in-laws, William J. and Alice Ruth Patterson; sister, Sharon L. Davis; brother, Charles W. Davis (Michelle); nine grandchildren; his loyal dog, Socks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was truly loved!
