Deacon James Willie Sterling, 94, of Montclair, N.J., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Summit Ridge Center, West Orange, N.J.
Born in Chester, S.C., James was a resident of Montclair for many years.
He was also an Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He was employed as a foreman with the Department of Public Works of Caldwell, N.J., for several years before retiring.
James was the beloved father of Elizabeth Allbrook, Reverend Brent W. Sterling, Bryant J. Sterling, and James C. Sterling; dear brother of John R. Sterling; he is also survived by 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
