Kendall L. Gardner, age 69, peacefully passed away on June 9, 2016, at Lorien Riverside Assisted Care Facility in Bel Camp, Maryland.
Kendall was born on June 27, 1946 to the late James W. Gardner and Evelyn Streett Gardner. His younger brother, Emile Alphonse Gardner died in California on April 9, 2016.
Kendall is survived by his loving sister, Martina Gardner Woods (Norm) of Durham, NC; his niece, Jeanné Shamley (Mark) of Florida; his nephews, Harvey Gardner Moore of New York, and Jim Moore (Monica) of Michigan; grand nephews, Marc Xavier and Tavian Allen; grand nieces, Martina Carolyn, Johnna Mouré, Bria Jeanné and Francine Xiomei; and a host of cousins, friends, as well as a cherished friend, Adelaide Brown.
Kendall attended Henry Conrad High School, earned his BS in Economics from Delaware State University, and served in the US Navy in Vietnam.
He worked in the Wilmington Public School System as a permanent substitute teacher. He devoted much of his adult life as the devoted caretaker for his paternal grandparents. He was a gifted and talented gentleman who was well read, sang, played all of the woodwind instruments, spoke 4 languages and never met a stranger.

There will be a viewing from 6-8pm on Thursday, June 16th at Congo Funeral Home, 201 N. Gray Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19805.
Funeral, 10am Friday, June 17th at Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew, 701 Shipley Street, Wilmington, DE 19801; viewing 9-9:45am only. Burial, Gracelawn Memorial Park.
