John G. Bennett of East Orange, N.J., passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016.
John was a U.S. Army veteran, retired Essex County probation officer, member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and beloved deacon of Bethany Baptist Church.
He was the loving husband of the late Harriette J. and father of the late Herbert and the late Gregory. He is survived by his devoted daughter and son, Debra DeRamus and Alonzo DeRamus; his grandson, Reginald Bennett; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha E. Taylor; daughter-in-law, Betty Bennett; niece, Yvonne Gray (Cornell); lifelong friend, Rev. Dr. James A. Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and church family.
