Funeral services for Pauline Phelps, 92, of Caldwell are set for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, with Rev. Rick Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at New Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2016. Mrs. Phelps died in Caldwell, March 9, 2016.

Pauline was born September 20, 1923 to Joseph Havel and Mary Louise (Vavra) Havel in Burleson County, Texas. Pauline married Richard LeRoy Phelps on November 11, 1941 in Caldwell, Texas.

Pauline was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her eight children and numerous grandchildren. Cooking, canning, gardening, and making kolaches, were a few of the many activities she enjoyed doing. Pauline was known as a very strong and determined lady.

Pauline is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Allen Phelps of Somerville, Douglas Byron Phelps of Rising Sun, Maryland, Dennis Wayne and Christine Phelps of Rising Star, Texas, Delvin and Leanne Phelps of Houston, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen Phelps Bishop of Caldwell, Geraldine Joy and James Ray Grant of Caldwell, Beverly and Jimmy Hill of Caldwell; 27 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Joan Elaine Ruiggero; two brothers, Joe & Fred Havel; two sisters, Milady Phelps and infant sister, Mary Ann Havel.

Pallbearers will be Richard Phelps, Douglas Phelps, Dennis Phelps, Delvin Phelps , James Grant, and Jimmy Hill.
