Bernice Rachel Hevalow, 90, of Atlantic City, went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 7, 2015, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division. Born in Pleasantville, she was the daughter of the late Rachel Green and William Henry Arrington. She was the wife of the late LeRoy Hevalow, her childhood sweetheart. "Bunny" as she was affectionately called, attended the Pleasantville Public Schools. Bernice was the first licensed female barber in South Jersey. She was co-owner and operator of Roy's Barber Shop for thirty years. She later worked at Hill's Barber Shop until retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Community Baptist Church where she served as a devoted president and member of the Senior Usher Board. She also served as chairman of the Trustee Board. She was a member of the Eastern Star of New Jersey and Daughters of Isis Azure Court #14. Bernice enjoyed trips, shopping, family and church gatherings. She had a great love for helping others. Surviving are: daughter; Eleanor Hevalow, sons; Gerald, Theopolus (Butch), Eric and Robert (Gerri) Hevalow, sister; Mabel Stevens, brother; Raymond Arrington, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
