Lester C. Houze, 82, of Bolivar, passed away Tuesday December 1, 2015 at Hennis Care Center in Bolivar following an extended illness.
He was born on June 21, 1933 to the late Lorin and Pearl (Scott) Houze. He married the former Doris "Dodie" Steinbaugh on July 16, 1955, sharing over 60 years together. Lester retired in 1999 from Timken Company in Canton after 36 years. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity and a member of the Mineral City American Legion. Lester was a Corporal in the U.S. Army, honorably serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Lester was a handyman, often called "Mr. Fix it".
He is survived by his wife; his son, Lester Lyn (Beth) Houze of Bolivar; his daughter, Tonya Marie Houze (Woods) of Fresno, California; his 6 grandchildren, Dan, Rick, Kristen, Kelly, Kailee, and Tyler; his 8 great grandchildren, Hunter, Abby, Lacie, Connor, Lauren, Riley, Lexi, and Khloe; his sisters, Judy (Don) Miller of Mentor, and Pat McBayer of Alabama.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his brothers, Karl, Fred, and Lorin, Jr.; and his sisters, Marge and Thelma "Sis".
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday December 7, 2015 at 11:00AM in the Church of the Holy Trinity; 1835 Dover-Zoar Rd. NE Bolivar with Fr. Ed Keck as celebrant and Fr. Jonathan Kathenge as concelebrant. Burial will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Bolivar where military honors will be rendered. Family will receive friends one hour prior. Family suggests memorials be made to either; the Church of the Holy Trinity Building Fund or Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. SW New Philadelphia, Oh 44663.
