LORRAINE Alexine BRISCOE, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Egg Harbor Care Center. Lorraine was born March 23, 1925 in Ouachita, Arkansas.

She was a loving wife to Brig. General Carl. E. Briscoe Sr. for 69 years.
Lorraine lived a life about love. A love for her husband; a love for her children; a love for her grandchildren; and a love for her great-grandchildren. She loved life. She loved to be an active participant. From head to toe, she was a lady of presence, sophistication, fun, and wit. Her greatest accomplishment was her family. Her greatest love was her husband of 68 years. To be surrounded by both, were moments she truly cherished.

On any given day, she was out the house, and looking for adventure. She would color her own hair, paint her own nails, and put together an outfit that would summon a retort from her family of "where do you think you're going?" She was going out and no one was going to stop her. She loved to hunt for a bargain because she always believed everything cost too much. So from The Dollar Store to CVS to the mall, she found pure joy in her shopping. In many instances, she would look a piece of clothing and say "Look how cheap this is made, I can make this better!"… she could; and she did. She loved to knit and sew. She had a whole room dedicated to her creations. She created the majorette mascot costume for the Atlantic City High School marching band. She made outfits for her children, and could hem a pant better than anyone else.

She took pride in her home. As a homemaker, she made her house a home where everyone always wanted to be. Rambunctious with kids, friends, and family, she loved to entertain. You could not walk through her doors without being offered some food. In the backyard, she grew every kind of vegetable you could imagine. And if you happened to drive by the front of the house, you often saw her outside tending to her flowers and sprucing up her garden. She had an eye for beauty and she wanted her surroundings to reflect that.

She was beauty. She was elegance. She was strength. She was determination. She was love. Her life was filled with love, and is survived by the love of her family

She is survived by her four children, Carletta Briscoe, Carl E. Briscoe Jr. (Phoebe), Vianna Briscoe (Timothy Weldon) and Helena Hankins, nine grandchildren, Talib H. Briscoe, Karla A. Briscoe-Weldon, Christopher C. Briscoe-Weldon, Damien Hankins, Justin Hankins, Kahlia Ali, Angelica Ali, Aliyah Ali, and Maria Hankins; and eight great grandchildren, Talib H. Briscoe Jr., Marley R. Briscoe , Taj M. Briscoe, Ania N. Briscoe, Damien Hankins Jr., Klaudia Hankins, Alexia Hankins and Daniel Hankins……….and they will always continue to spread her love.
