Jewell Marie "Pat" O'Neal Groome, 91, of Wheeling, died Monday, June 15, 2015.
She was born December 24, 1923, in Rayville, LA, a daughter of the late Wilmer and Lena Salar O'Neal.
Pat was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, homemaker, baker, longtime bridge player and member of Newcomers of Wheeling, and a proud member of St. Michael Catholic Church; indeed, a proud "Southern" lady!
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, John "Jack" Groome in 2013, 2 sisters; Thelma Savage and Laverne Parham, 2 brothers; W. J. O'Neal and Thomas "Snooks" O'Neal; daughter in law, Pamela and grandson, Evan Groome.
Pat is survived by her loving sister, Angenell Patsy O'Neal, her four sons; Philip, Christopher, Kenneth and Stephen, 11 grandchildren; Michele, Jennifer, Chad, Jack, Ashley, Katie, Storm, Michael, Courtney, Hannah and Joseph; 7 great grandchildren, daughters in law; Stephanie, Janet, Pam, Donna and special friend, Darlene, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and bridge partners.
Also, special thanks to all the great caregivers, including Valley Hospice.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, from 3-7pm on Friday, June 19, 2015, for a memorial gathering.
Burial and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
