Dorothy May Gage, age 100, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday January 26, 2015 at Fairview Adult Foster Care Home in Grand Ledge with her family by her side.

Dorothy was born on February 19, 1914 in Caldwell Township, Missaukee County, to Allen & Lena (Travis) Shetenhelm. She owned and operated an Insurance Agency in the Houghton Lake Heights for many years. She married Mark Gage on May 17, 1935 in Roscommon. Dorothy moved to Houghton Lake in 1942 from Dewitt. She was a life member of the Eastern Star, Charter Member of the Houghton Lake Eagles, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary 4034.

Dorothy is survived by five grandchildren, Vicki (Bob) Reimbold, Richard (Rose) Bryde, Thomas (Cathy) Bryde, Ruthie (Willie Musse) Jarrad, Jeff Switzer; six great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters, son-in-law, Roy Switzer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mark Gage, daughter, Joan Switzer, brother, Francis Shetenhelm.
Visitation is scheduled at Christler Funeral Home- Houghton Lake Chapel on Thursday January 29, 2015 from 11 am until the time of the funeral. The funeral will take place on Thursday at the funeral home at 1 pm. Burial will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery. You may express your condolences to the family at www.christler-holdship.com
