Edward Richard Hodges, 79, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday January 26, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was born on December 14, 1935 in River Rouge, Michigan to Wm. Chester and Marie(Primeau) Hodges. He grew up in River Rouge and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes School. Edward served in the 82nd Airborn of the Army. Ed worked as a Superintendent at the Rouge Stamping Plant for Ford Motor Company for many years. He was married on February 1, 1958 in Wyandotte to Joanne Marie Fogarty. The couple moved to Houghton Lake from Southgate in 1993. Ed was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. James Men's Club, Knights of Columbus, Queen of Apostles Council #6548. He was an avid golfer and could be seen often on the fairways at Pineview Golf Course.
Surviving Mr. Hodges are his loving wife of nearly 57 years Joanne Hodges of Houghton Lake; daughter, Vicki Hodges of Ashland, MA.; four sons, Richard(Joyce) Hodges of Magnolia, TX, David Hodges of Warren, Jeffery(Cathleen) Hodges of Eaton Rapids, and Christopher(Amy) Hodges of Canton; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister, Leona Daly of Spokane, WA; four brothers, James (Gladys) Hodges of Houghton Lake, William (Ilene) Hodges of Traverse City, Joseph (Joanne) Hodges of Huntsville, AL, and Robert (Dolores) Hodges of Troy; several nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Patrick Hodges.
Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Richard Hodges will be conducted 11:00am Friday January 30, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Bernard Tyler officiating. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 29, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel with the Knights of Columbus reciting the Rosary at 7:00pm. Memorial Contribution in memory of Ed are asked to be directed to St. James Catholic Church or Roscommon St. Vincent DePaul Society. Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
