Marcia J. Sarvis, 72, of Albany died Monday at her home. Born in Pierre, SD to Donald and Bertha (Grauel) Sullivan, Marcia grew up in Pierre and graduated from Riggs High School in 1959. She married Donald Lehman and together they lived in several states for Donald's work. He died in a motor vehicle accident and Marcia returned to Pierre. After several years she married Ward Sarvis and they moved to the Jefferson/Scio area. She worked first at OSU in janitorial services, and then for several years at the Scio Food Center.
Marcia was active with the Lioness Club in Jefferson and through that group helped with many community activities including the Jefferson Mint Festival. She was an avid gardener, liked to play games on her computer, and enjoyed playing cards and dice with her friends. Marcia had a special bond with her dog Maggie, and of course loved her kids and grandkids. "We love you to the moon and back mom, grandma. Until we see you again in heaven, you will always be in our hearts."
She is survived by her daughters Julie Duchscherer of Dublin, California, Lori Cheever of Lacomb, and Carol Slupe of Albany; grandchildren Shelly Smith, Chellsy Rash, McKenzie Cheever, Anthony Slupe, and Ashley Rae; great grandchildren Rebecca, Connor, Noah, Tison, Londyn, Tegan, and expected soon, Brynn; sister Janice Burgad of Golden, Colorado; and special friends Bill, Sue & Chuck, and Loni & John. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ward; and sister Terry Augustine.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 2-5pm Saturday at Lori Cheever's home, 33221 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Lebanon, OR 97355. Contributions may be made to Safehaven Humane Society c/o Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St., Albany, OR 97321.
