LaVern M. Denney, age 96 of Stanton, died Monday February 20, 2012 at Stanton Health Center in Stanton. She was born June 21, 1915 in Stanton County, Nebraska the daughter of Leonard and Grace (Whalen) Wood. She attended Stanton County District #8 and graduated Stanton High School in 1932.
LaVern married Robert O. Denney on May 27, 1932 at Papillion, Nebraska. The couple owned and operated Denney Transfer in Stanton for many years. She was a member of New England Congregational Church in Stanton; Congregational Woman's Fellowship; Past Member of Royal Neighbors; belonged to sever Bridge Clubs and Pitch Clubs in Stanton. She loved playing cards, crossword puzzles, in her younger years she enjoyed planting flower gardens.
She is survived by her 5 daughters Carole Lou Armbruster of Aurora, NE; JoAnne and Ronald Schellpeper of Stanton; Sharon and Allen Wolff of Madison, NE; Mary and George, Jr. Benson of Stanton; Nannette and Allan Neuhaus of Grand Island, NE; 21 Grandchildren; 46 Great Grandchildren; 21 Great Great Grandchildren.
LaVern is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert on July 14, 1993, 2 Grandchildren Steven Wolff and Anne Garrett; 1 Brother Eugene Wood; 2 Sisters Dora Krog and Deane Voelker; 1 Son-In-Law Dan Armbruster.
