Guestbook for Shane Murray Cote

My deepest condolences to family, veterinarian staff, and friends. Got news this morn. Saddens my heart. Immediately, Dr. Shane Cote became a friend simply because of his superb character. An outstanding, caring, and trustworthy veterinarian who helped us with our choc.lab, Sam, that had to be put down due to last stage canine lupus (cancer). Compassionately, Cote literally sat in the floor in private at clinic with us, about an hour, sharing his life stories, experiences of vet-care for horses & wolves, as we told of adventures shared with Sam in travel. We laughed and we shed tears. Cote gave us quality last minutes with Sam, brought peace into our hearts prior to the lethal injection. He gave us time to accept, prepare, and grieve of the loss we knew we had no other choice to encounter. Cote an 'excellent' and cheerful role-model at sharing compassion for not only domestic animals and wildlife; but humans as well. Also, Lukachukai's primary veterinarian. Sincerely, Trish Shackelford

I know this is late, but I just heard today. I am so very sorry for Dr. Shane's wife and sons, and truly for us all. A great man has gone on to his reward, leaving a huge hole in our hearts and lives. I was honored to know him, and owe him the life of every animal I have.
Many Blessings, Kaylyn Duke

Dear Robyne, Clayton, Chance, & Cayden - Dr. Cote was an extrodinary human for many reasons but when our paths crossed it was always his compassion coupled with an inate sense of how an animal felt & thus could be helped - it was this gift that he had that made him my favorite vet in a life time of having vets for my animals. He took care of my burro, Raisin, over a course of 3 years, in a manner that will never be forgotten by me.Saved her & gave her back her quality of life. He was there for the end of my animals lives over the years and at the start of the next animal to rule my world. I am grateful to have known him and my sorrow in your loss and in the worlds loss of this extrodinary man, is genuine & will be life long.

Robyne, Clay, Chance and Caden,
My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. Shane was such a special person to soo many. The word I would choose to describe Shane's Character is COMPASSIONATE! When I had my first evaluation, Shane asked me what was most important about working with animals? I said, "compassion" and he said, "Yep that's it Compassion", and that's what he gave to the clients and their animals everyday. So much of who he was.
Wendy told me, when she was Shane's tech, she enjoyed going on the Farm Calls with Shane the most. He taught her so much.I know of, no other Vet who would have let her have as much hands on experience with the animals and he entrusted her with the knowledge that she got from his teaching. For this her dad and I are truly grateful.
May God bless you all and may His love and all our prayers help you through the difficult times ahead.

My thoughts and sympathy are with the Cote family during this very difficult time.
Shane and his three sons rode their horses like they were in a Hollywood movie last July west of Montezuma Vet Clinic. Our 1700 lb.
bull busted out of the MV corrals heading west.
After about an hour,Shane, with help from the boys, corraled and loaded the bull into my stock trailer. The bull tired out and the
tireless riders did not tire until the job was done.
Our community has lost a great man.

Robyne, Clayton, Chance, and Caden,
Our hearts are breaking with the loss of this wonderful man! We were originally referred to Shayne for our first puppy, a black Labrador Retriever named Jazzy. Then along came our chocolate Lab Brownie, and our male yellow Lab Gunner. He has also cared for our cat Mercy.
We have always been impressed by his gentle and kind presence and patience. He has helped us through many successes and sorrows caring for our three dogs and many litters of puppies over the years. He has always given us professional yet sincere encouragement, compassion, and advice.
We pray for comfort, peace, and strength to endure the days ahead and future. We know he will always be watching over you, and you will see him again one day because families are eternal.
Our community, his patients, employees, colleagues, and friends have also lost so much in his passing. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
God bless,

In memory of Dr. Shane Cote: I know you must be so saddened and your hearts are broken. But I have to tell you how wonderful he was in my life! In December 2000 we adopted a puppy from the animal shelter in Rawlins. Madison had parvo and Dr. Shane spent 5 long days (and probably evenings) with her and pulled her through. Madison was 12 years old last August and I am still so grateful for Dr. Shane! As I am sure many of his clients are. I am so sad to hear of your loss.

Dear Robyn & Family and the employees of the Montezuma Vet Clinic. Kaytlyn and I share your sorrow and you all are in our prayers. Shane was not only a wonderful vet but was a very good and nice man. He will be truly missed by those of us that respected and trusted him with our animals. I will never forget when one of my bulls put him on top of a horse trailer in the back of the clinic. It was rather funny afterwards. He always had such a good spirit about him. Very knowledgeable, always willing to lend a hand when you needed help and cared about our community. It will be hard for all of you to pick the pieces up and go forward, but Shane is at peace now. God Bless all of you and he will watch over you. We love you all. Kaytlyn and Gayel

We were very sorry to hear of your loss. Shane introduced us and what a blessing that was. Our hearts are filled with sorrow for the family. We wish you all the blessing that will come from such a loss. The community shall miss him greatly. He was there for animal and human alike. My heart goes out to you. Although I don't know you very much I have witnessed a wonderful part of you and Shane through Clay. Based on my time with him I know you both to be very loving parents. To hear the love and respect Clay expresses about both of his parents is the best testimony there is about your guidance of him. I know your loss is tremendous and the uncertainty of the future is unimaginable but parents that can guide a child such as you have done have something special to build upon. My prayers are with you and your family.

My heart breaks over the loss of Shane and for the family he's left behind. I remember the first time he made a farm call to my place seven or so years ago he told me about his three little boys. It was pretty obvious that he loved being a Dad. It was always so comforting to have Shane come here to care for my animals. I'll always remember his happy smile, sense of humor, skill, and depth of widsom and knowledge. There is a hole in our community now. My thoughts are with the friends and family of this wonderful man who was so dedicated to his work and so helpful to so many.

Robyn and family: I am so saddened by the loss of Shane. I too have suffered a similar loss in my past. We felt so connected to Shane when we moved here 10 yrs. ago and were searching for a vet. We made an immediate connection as we too were from Wyoming. Shane and the Clinic went above and beyond in caring for our animals. He took over the chemo treatments on my beloved Buddy a number of years back. Dr. Cote will be greatly missed and will leave a hole in our vet community.

Robyne and Boys,
We were deeply saddened by the news of Shane's passing. He was a dedicated and compassionate professional that treated our pets with the utmost tender care. At our 4H vaccination clinic he saw that many of our county's pets were taken care of quickly but yet with the same professional care as with an office visit. His sense of humor was uplifting and kept all around him upbeat. May God give you all the strength to make it through these most difficult days. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Shane Cote family. Our memory of Shane was when our son took his 1200 lb. 4-H steer to the clinic, suffering from "frothy" bloat. The steer had to be slaughtered that day but the care and compassion Shane showed that animal and that 12 year old boy spoke volumes of his character. A true professional and genuine good person. May God's healing hand be with you in the days to come.
