Joel was one of the most interesting Guitar players I have ever had the honor of playing and performing with. Joel was inspirational and influential in shaping my musical interest. What a horrible loss. I was thinking of you the other day remembering when we use to sit around singing....we had some good times! We both have met our share of demons as well! There are people that come across your life and it seems that you are somehow spiritually bound and I believe you were one of those people. No matter how far off eachothers path we went....we always reconnected! I am grateful that we were able to reconnect recently. Hey...say hi to Jerry for me!

I can't believe I'm even writing this, it just doesn't seem fair. Joel has been one of my best friends for many years. He had a heart of gold. I promise to be there for Jodi just as she was for him all of their lives. To Joel's parents, you two have raised these wonderful children and I know you are proud. Joel, Cecilia and Jodi; I am so very sorry to hear of "Cubbys" untimely death. My sincerest sympathy to you all. I always enjoyed hanging with him as we shared a passion for the same music. I'm glad he will live on as an organ donor: in death he gave the gift of life. I'm proud he was my friend.

I knew Joel maybe about 15 years ago or so. He was a very gentle and kind hearted fellow. He loved music and cars so much!!! I am sure he is getting to know fellow musicians up in heaven right now and will soon be happily jamming with them!! The song "Rock and Roll Heaven" comes to mind when I think of Joel. I was fortunate to have known him.

I did not know Joel, but I wish I had. I'm not in habit of reading the obits, but while brousing the courant his story jumped out at me. I'm pushing 82, have been married to the same woman for 56 years, have 4 happy and successful kids, and 9 beautiful grandchildren. Joel was a gift from god, 'the lord givith, the lord taketh away.' It is the taking away part that is very hard to deal with. God knows best, and in his infinite wisdom he needed Joel more than "we" did. The story of Joel's life of happiness and unselfishness will live on for generations. My prayers are with you.

Yesterday I was driving (flipping through the channels, which I never do!) and a Grateful Dead song came on and my thoughts went right to Joel! It put a smile on my face and tears in my eyes but my thoughts went right back to happy times!

The world will not be the same without Joel Junokas. He was the most kind and loving soul I believe I have ever met and had the pleasure of knowing. Some of the favorite times of my youth were spent with Joel - going to see the Grateful Dead, partying on dead end streets, and experiencing the adventures of youth. Although I lost touch with Joel some years ago, I know that I will miss him tremendously. Fare you well, my brother. I know your soul will get up and fly away.

I remember babysitting for Joel when he was a toddler and young boy. He was a cute little guy that grew up to be a gentle and kind man. He was a thoughtful and caring soul.

In recent years he gave his time and a helpful hand to my parents, his Aunt and Uncle. Mom will miss his visits.
