If you could now close your eyes and visualize him standing there smiling at you. Now he turns and walking away waving goodbye going to join his family whom are in Heaven and to experience a new life after death. One day we will all be joined together again and more memories will be made.
(Rest in peace until we meet again)

Jim had a fascination for guns and liked shooting, was an excellent marksman. He also liked working with bees, he called them his girls. I don't know much about bees but I thought there was one queen bee and all the workers were males. But I guess he had that all figured out. When Jim had a interest in something he always put over a 100% in to it. I wish he could of made a trip up here to Alaska. Right now I am sure he's looking down at everybody similing, thinking about all the acheivements he made and what a fine family he has. His spirit and memories will live on forever, he will be missed by many.

Jim also drove dump truck for his Dad. It was a red Ford with his Dad's initials I.M. Latch, boy if that wasn't making a statement. He had two sons with JoAnn, Jason and Chris. Later marrying Sherry, our sister and became our Brother-in-law. He inherited two daughters and then Jessie was born. He thought the world of all his kids. Some he wished he had a better connection with. His grandchildren were all very precious to him, he held a special place in his heart for them. Jim worked for the Transit for many years, mainly working night shift. He could be very obnoxious and opinionated sometimes. I think the reason for this was working alone and when given the chance wanted to express his thoughts and be heard. He was full of knowledge and had to let it out.

Then they started the Lottery for the Draft. Jim had a Lottery number of 23, so he joined the Army; another graduation at Fort Lewis. Then off to another camp, then to Korea as an equipment operator, front end loader. Jim was very talented at playing the organ. He got to play this large one, which was the only one in that area while in Korea. I'm sure they all enjoyed it. After getting out of the Army, he later married JoAnn. He worked at E.C. Miller mill in South Monte, where Mary's River is now. Also worked in the woods for a short time for Hydalman and My Sons in the rigging. Then he went to college and took Deisel Mechanics. Where he really excelled with Honors.

Sorry I couldn't be there at this time of sorrow.Jim was more than just a brother-in-law, we went way back. Best buddies in high school. We had many good times together, memories that will be cherished forever. On class day just before graduation, Miss Lewis was in the hallway,Jim said Miss Lewis, "I presume I am graduating." Miss Lewis replied "Jim, I presume you are." You should have heard him yell, he was one happy camper. Jim worked some as a bus boy at the Broiler in Monte. He used to ride his Honda 90 back and forth to work, he smoked a pipe some then. One memory that sticks with me is when Mr. Dall, a teacher, was in the Shake Shop in Monte, and Jim rode thru one door, down along the counter and out the front door. What a exciting moment, especially for Mr. Dall. When Jim got that little white Rambler American, He was hell on wheels. Way to many stories to tell, but if you were there you would remember.

My memories of Jim go back to the times that he would come to our first home in Montesano. He would show up to visit and talk about his favorite subject, Sherry. He was a man in love and a man who's heart was broken when Sherry married someone else. As we all know he got his chance later. I have learned that while no marriage is perfect, but their match was and I was honored to be called first a friend and then family.
Jim,
While always in my heart, your presence will be missed.

(Part 2..continued)..I didn't see Jim as much after I eventually got married and started a family, and wish I had seen him more in the later years, but it was always great to see him when I did. I enjoyed our conversations very much! Even though I am saddened, I will always have great memories of my time spent with Jim and his family also! Jim will be missed very much! God bless Jim and his family!! I am glad to be able to call all of you my friends!! I wish you all the best and to have peace. Scott Cokeley

I was and am saddened and stunned at the news of Jim's passing. He was a good friend and influenced me in many ways. He could be a little sarcastic at times without being offensive. I enjoyed hanging out with him, usually with my best friend, Rick Miller. Jim would go out of his way to try to help you out. He taught me a lot about the computer, long before I owned one. I remember him liking country music, and also early rock and roll, pop and soul music. I remember listening to Gerry Rafferty with him and him playing for us a few times, with a chuckle, the country tune "I Love This Bar." I have great memories of going to Jim and Shery's house with Rick and hanging out, tinkering around the house, just enjoying each other's company, or for a birthday gathering. I have great memories camping with them too. Jim would use his tiki torches. I remember how happy Jim and Shery were when they were married at the old Moose lodge, and when Jesse was born.
