Guestbook for Dr. David G. Stahl

To the Stahl Family, I just heard today about your father's passing and am so sorry that I did not know sooner. Barbara and David were so kind to me and Craig when we arrived in New Hampshire in 1986 when Craig began teaching with Barbara. I will always be grateful to David for calling me when Craig died in 2002 and making certain that I got my one wish...that his service be filled with beautiful music. They were truly wonderful people and I will think of them always with deep affection. Warmly, Sherry

Dear Stahl family,
I have thought about David a lot recently, and by accident ran in to this obituary. I am sad to hear about his death, and can share that during my time as the JFNH Israeli emissary, David has been one of the kind, warm and welcoming people I have met. I will not forget the visits to his home, hearing him play the piano, or just the way he used to ask me how I was doing, making sure I was treated right.
He will always be remembered here as the kind and intelligent person I met, may he rest in peace.

Belatedly, I and my family were so sorry to hear of your loss. We lost my husband and father, Saul, on Nov.22nd, so we understand what you are going through. Saul was a long time friend of David and Barbara and often spoke of them and their accomplishments.
Fondest regards to the family from:

David was the NH World Affairs Council's citizen ambassador to the world. His devoted interest in, and study of, international events is legendary. His legacy of warm, gracious, personal diplomacy will live on in the hearts and minds of the countless international visitors he welcomed to the state of NH and his own home. With deep sympathies to his extended family, Rick and Caren

I sit hear and weap as I think about a life time of support I received from you. You were my mentor along with George Zilzer to help me promote a better pianist within me. You always, inspired me and instilled in me talent takes work which requires practice, practice, and more practice. I will miss you so very much. I know I spoke to you just a few months ago but it is sad now to know that I can not call you again. Mom always told me that life is one big rehersal. You have the best finale.
Good bye my friend and mentor

My condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Stahl who I knew through my work in the Household Dept. at and during the Deerfield Fair. He entered jams and jellies every year for many years and won many blue ribbons. He was a delight to know, if only for a few days a year

With deepest sympathy to the Stahl family on the loss of your beloved father. My grandparents were your grandfather's patients and my parents and my siblings and me your father's patients. So many cherished memories: Rubber animals, becoming too big for the rocking chair, catching me buying candy in the Big L, playing (under protest ) my flute for him and a full waiting room, learning about Judaism, talking proudly about his family, giving me advice about anything and everything, and wonderful hugs . . .

I will miss his love of music and general cultural and political insights, his talks with my NHIA students about the print collection he created with his wife Barbara and his love of cooking. He liked breaking bread with family and friends.

He also knew Isadore J. and Lucille Zimmerman and so was my link to them and the Currier Museum of Art's Frank Lloyd Wright house.

David was tremendously kind and very welcoming for the community. He reached out and gave me a solid introduction to Manchester and a healthy and practical dose of city and state history. Manchester is a stronger community for his significant contributions. May he receive his well-earned rest and peace.

We knew David for many years. He was our dentist. We liked having our teeth cleaned while listening to his soothing classical music. David was blessed with a keen intellect and boundless curiosity. He could speak on any subject; music, the arts, politics, etc. He was a major contributor to our community. We especially appreciated his service to the Manchester Historic Association. He is in our prayers.

It is a testimony to how close we have remained to David that three people told us of his passing within a day. We left Manchester in 2003 to join our grand children in Seattle. But in spite of the distance we kept in touch with Barbara and then David. We knew that he was not well lately. Even our last dinner at the backroom a year and half ago showed us that David not quite his old self.
We have so many memories of him that it would take too long to mention them. Let's just remember many Saturdays at the Boston symphony, David and Barbara flying all the way to Dallas to attend our daughter Victoria's wedding; David's pictures were so good that two of his picture of the occasion are still in our living room. And how can I forget our weekly French lessons...
Our family, Roger, Danielle, Victoria and Vikash offer you our sincere condolences.

What a fine and very busy man Dr.Stahl was. My husband too ,was a musician, played piano and bass, and enjoyed the Symphonies. He loved talking with David Stahl....how well I remember. They are both gone now, and we know there is beautiful music in God's place. Blessings to all David's family; he will be missed terribly.

Very sorry to hear of Dr. Stahls passing. Our families have known each other for more than 50 years. I always looked forward to my cleanings so I could hear the beautiful classical music in the waiting room and get the little toy Dr. Stahl gave to his young patients. I also remember fondly riding the city bus home to the North End with his father Sam.Both great people and dentists. My sincere condolences for your loss.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. & Mrs. Stahl many years ago and found them to be wonderful people - civically minded with great social conscience. The city and the state were enhanced by their presence. Their loss is felt by all. My most sincere condolences to the family.

I didn't have the benefit of knowing Dr Stahl for as long as many others did, but it did not reduce the huge respect I had for him professionally, being aware of the many, many contributions he made to organized dentistry. He was a trail-blazer, indeed, and will be surely missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, brave warrior.

It is with my deep regret on the passing of a mentor, friend, and advisor. There are many decades that David and others walked me through the responsibilities and duties of our profession. May God lead him thru the Gates of Heaven.

I first met David through the NH Symphony Orchestra when I interned there in the early 80s, witnessing his love of music and his generosity. I later got to know David as a steadfast supporter of the NH Humanities Council. He was especially interested in promoting civil discourse on challenging public issues, especially across religious and cultural barriers. We will miss him at our Annual Dinner next week, an event he enjoyed attending for many years. The Manchester community and the nonprofit community statewide have lost a champion.

Bob and Sunne Neuman send their condolences to the Stahl Family.
David has been a close friend, supporter and collector of Bob's artwork for decades. We enjoyed seeing him last year when we had lunch, visited the Currier Art Museum and visited his home to view his collection. He and Barbara were outstanding members of the community in their dedication to the arts and education. We will miss the good times we have spent together, including having them attend our marriage 34 years ago.
May God bless him and give him peace.

it's hard to imagine David being gone. He and his family were very close to my parents from an early age. In recent years, David was the only person in Manchester I knew, could call, could visit. He and Barbara gave to the community in so many ways. Peace...
