Dear Sue, I just recently learned of Dave's passing and I was so shocked and saddened. I had to tell you that although I didn't know him well, he helped me so much when I needed it. At the time of the KRKI sale and he left to work for Rains Motor Co. , Dave is the one who told me (and pushed)me to apply for a sales position with the new owners. I had worked there part-time, filling in for Vicki Wasson when she was on vacation and did some (very bad) Sunday AM deejaying. At the time I was a newly single Mom and needed more money , but the thought of doing what Dave did was terrifying.
He encouraged me and I was able to get the job and make decent money in Estes Park which is not an easy thing to do for a woman! I don't know if I was ever very good at sales - I inherited a good client list - but that job helped me in so many ways - (despite the bad outcome KRKI eventually had) and I NEVER would have gotten into the sales end of radio w/o Dave telling me I could do it. I left when KRKI was sold, but that job lead me to other things I never would have thought I could have done w/o that experience. So it can be said that Dave really changed my life for the better. He was a good man and he will be missed by many. I am so sorry for your loss. My heart is broken for you, I know you truly were his best friend and the love of his life. You both were very lucky to have each other.
I'll never forget Dave Floyd!
